Evan Templeton
Principal
Beginning with formal credit training and several years of middle-market banking at Chemical Bank, Evan’s financial career has been focused on the high yield and leveraged loan markets. His 25+ year career includes Senior Research Analyst roles at FleetBoston Robertson Stephens, RBC Capital Markets and Jefferies, where as Managing Director, he led the firm’s Leveraged Credit Strategy Group. Although his focus has been coverage of the Energy sector (Exploration & Production, Oilfield Services, Midstream and Downstream), Evan also has extensive experience in the Marine Transportation and General Industrial spaces.
In his sell-side capacity, Evan was responsible for sourcing investment ideas and managing risk exposure for the firms’ proprietary trading efforts across the capital structure (including cross-over, high yield, leveraged loans, stressed, distressed, mezzanine and public and private equity). His duties included industry and financial due diligence; evaluating covenant and security structures; and, marketing investment ideas and communicating broader industry themes to institutional investors via single-name research reports, sector strategy pieces, individual and group investor meetings, and investor conferences.
In addition to the above, Evan played key roles in the diligence, structuring and marketing of over $20 billion of left-lead high yield and leveraged loan transactions. Many of the public and private offerings were at the high-end of the risk spectrum and their successful execution relied upon his extensive sector-, credit- and security-specific expertise and insight. The aforementioned transactions include balance sheet recapitalizations, acquisition funding, and leveraged buyouts, as well as more complex transactions including: corporate spin-outs, international exploration and development drilling, rig and vessel newbuild construction projects, midstream pipeline and processing build-outs, business roll-ups, and pre-IPO convertible financings.
